Fiji Fotos

For a different perspective, lovely writing style, and great philosophical musings, visit Joe's blog at joebax.wordpress.com.

Griffith Observatory in California with Carlos (No, there is no California in Fiji)
Waiting for a bus that never came
Have I said how beautiful Fiji can be?
Oh, you know.  Just hanging out in the ocean at sunset.
 Sandfly bites.  Poor boy.
 Sleeping Giant Gardens
Fiji has some massive trees, like this one in the Sleeping Giant gardens
We found a hidden staircase that we followed to the top!
Atop the hill for a good view at Sleeping Giant gardens (Joe sorta looks constipated)
 Flora and Fauna
 Beauty in the small things
 The Sleeping Giant mud baths

The main thing is that you get to play in the mud
Shedding our old skin and life; washing away the mud.
 Hindu Temple in Nadi
We have the feeling it was made specifically for tourists, but it worked on us.  The colors are beautiful and the culture rich.
 The open-air bus
Joe and the odd taxi-truck driver
Joe in what looks like a scene straight from Swiss Family Robinson
Foliage really brings out the sickly white color of his skin.
We'd like to pose for brochures for a living
Joe (Josh, according to Junior and his family) and George
Isn't it grand?  We went swimming in that!
Somebody was a little tuckered out after many hours of hiking
 Niko's slightly intoxicated fire dancing
My breakfast--I was spoiled by Sara (and she isn't the first Sara to spoil me in my life)
Fishermen go out to catch their lunch
The fishermen come back from an unsuccessful fishing trip to the breakfast prepared for them by the hostess.
The boys: George, Junior, Joe and Fazi
The ultra hot jungle chili pepper!
Niko watches Joe's form as he plants the coconut
 Planting a coconut tree
Joe and Junior getting nets ready for the fishermen who would use the boat next.
Quick, pose!  Another foliage/sickly white shot.
Relaxing at the farm
George setting up the lovo
Isaac was a cute kid, but he definitely knew how to be cantankerous
 Lovo, lovo (Hangi, hangi)
Food is cooked and ready to be eaten!
He watched the same 4 videos over and over on his parents' cell phone, but boy did they entertain him.
Sunshine makes us warm, but rain makes us happy too!
Awww... the little quartet was there to say goodbye, just as they had been there to welcome us.
